This is a post that I dreaded that I would never have to make... I have no quirky lines... On Sunday September 21, 2008, Colin passed away at home. His heart had all it could take and decided to rest. Melanie and I want to thank all of you for experiencing this journey with us on the blog. Your support through comments were truly uplifting and inspiring. We also want to thank his doctors for never giving up on him and giving him as much as a life as possible, especially Dr. Kvesilis. As a final note for the blog, I created a video of his life. The pictures will stream by fast, but as you can imagine it is hard to cram so many photo's of our little boy into a 4 minute song...... If you would like to contact us, you can leave a post on the blog as we will check it from time to time or you can email me at Sugrlof95@aol.com. Colin is now at peace with god with no pain, walking, eating, smiling, laughing, and growing.....All the things he had such a difficult time with battling here with us. Melanie and I have now taken his pain and he is free. He is up in heaven with his Great Grandma Agnes playing board games....Talking and eating baked goods with his Great Grandma Marge....Playing with a cap gun that his Little Great Grandpa Domanico got for him.....and waking up to his Big Great Grandpa Bould singing "Good Morning Mr. Zip Zip Zip.............Mommy and I love you so much Colin......

There are just no words for how I (we) feel about Colin or you guys. Evan saw the birthday video yesterday and cried his little head off. He refused to watch this video because he was afraid he would cry again. Please know that our hearts and thoughts are with you all. Love, love, love,

Hello Tim and Melanie,
ReplyDeleteTim I am not sure if you remember me but I went through youth group and confirmation at St. Barts with you (Jennifer Gottlieb) and have many memories from back in the day with everyone on our many retreats. My mom and Melanie's Aunt Patty and Uncle Patrick are very close friends and when my mom told me to check out the blog I had no idea the connection I'd see. The past few years I did not know that the handsome Colin belonged to you. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. You will be in my prayers everyday. Keep your faith in God and lean on him and eachother. It is so obvious that you have been blessed with many memories of Colin that I know you will hold so close forever. Thank you for making the video and sharing your handsome, happy, amazing son with all of us. Your strength, faith and love as a parent and husband is truly admirable. I will pray for a healthy pregnancy for Melanie as the months go on. Keeping your family on my mind and in my heart everyday.
Love and Prayers,
Jennifer

Mel and Tim,
ReplyDeleteI am so very very sorry. I have been praying for your strength to get through this. I can't imagine how you are feeling but always remember that you have been wonderful parents to Colin - his life was filled with love.
Love,
Susan
The memories we will take out of these 2 short years will last a lifetime, that I promise you. Capturing these memories in a tremendous 4 minute video is only a glimpse into a sliver of his life that those far away never got to share. Our video is far longer than a 4 minute song and will run constantly in our memories whenever we want them to. My lasting memory will be finally getting that stoic little Godchild of mine to crack a smile just a few weeks ago at his second birthday. Not only one but many including the one I now know was the last for me just before I walked out the door. I will never forget you and don't you ever forget I will always be your Godfather. Love Uncle Brian
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through another, and wanted to express my sympathy for the loss of your beautiful boy.
ReplyDeleteMel & Tim,
ReplyDeleteYou are in our thoughts and our prayers. We are all blessed to have had Colin come into our lives. We just know he is watching over you now and holding you both in his heart.
All of our love,
Michelle & Marybeth
Melanie and Tim,

ReplyDeleteMel and Tim,
ReplyDeleteWe cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. Your little boy had so much love in his life; he was so lucky to have such wonderful and loving parents, grandparents and extended family. We grieve with you but also know that Colin in no longer in pain. We loved the video Tim made of his life, especially the photos of Colin and Tim in the football jerseys, his zip-up swimsuit from Ocean City and the photo of you both kissing his cheeks. His Connecticut cousins are very sad but are so happy to have spent time with him in Ocean City (with that big cookie in his hand) and at his second birthday party. We love you all and continue to pray for you.
Love,
Lisa, Patrick, Michael, Thomas and Riley
Mel and Tim,
ReplyDeleteOur hearts are with you and your families. Colin's video is beautiful - he was blessed to have such strong and loving parents. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
love,
Kim and Andy
We always hope & pray that all of our patients can be “fixed” or “cured”. Your family has reminded us to also wish for each of them a life full of the kind of love and obvious family support that Colin enjoyed his during his time with us. You put more life into Colin’s two years than many parents put into a lifetime. You will be in our thoughts and prayers and we hope that you can continue to take care of each other as you did during all of your struggles. - Maureen, Margaret & Sue @ Pediatric Cardiology
ReplyDeleteThe news of Colin's passing has just reached me today. I am so sorry for your loss. I will never forget his sweet, sweet face.
