Buttoned Up!!

Today, Colin had his tube replaced with a much smaller and cleaner Mic-Key button. Colin had one of these last fall but, that was one that went into his stomach and this one goes to his jejunum. They were able to change it out and thread it down without using any sedation which was awesome. It took about 20 minutes start to finish. After that we went over to see his buddy Dr. K and all the friendly nurses in the office. Colin loves going into the office but he was a little ticked off today as he was tired and his stomach area might have been a little sore. Anyways, no big news out of the visit as we didn't do an echo, which was fine with us. He looks good and we keep creeping up on the food. Soon we will get him down so we don't have to feed him 24 hours a day. Anyways, I don't have a picture of the new button however I took a video of him standing and playing with his bouncing zebra this morning. Take a look.......

He continues to have good leg strength- he just needs to get a little more upper body strength so he isn't as wobbly. Then we need to get him bending his knees so he will start to walk......

PS-That's mommy's hand in the background-nervous that Colin will fall!!

  1. Everything you described about the upper body strenght & bending the knees - exactly my Vaeh's problem too! Its amazing how much alike these kids can be! Glad to hear that they finally were able to get the mic-key in! They are so much nicer than a regular tube. Did Colin have the fundo? Vaeh just has a straight G-tube. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers this next week & for checking in on us! It is so wonderful to have people who understand what its like to talk to - I've made some great friends through blogging! I'll try to keep her blog updated. It'll help keep my mind off of things! Take care & give Colin a big hug from all of us!

  10. Colin has been cranky lately so he came and spent Saturday night with Grandma and me to give Mom and Dad a break. As usual he was an angel! He slept all night and was up at around 5:15am. He and I got up and then went downstairs and watched "The Wiggles" together. He is spending next weekend in CT. with Grandpa Charlie. I already told Colin that Grandpa Charlie would get up at 5:15am with him like Papa did on Saturday morning. Grandpa Charlie doesn't mind as he also likes "The Wiggles". I also told Colin he can discuss with Grandpa Charlie the type of car he wants when he turns 16!!
