Another Step Back......

Well yesterday the CPAP machine did help open Colin's lower left lung lobe, it closed again overnight so they decided this morning to put the breathing tube back in temporarily. This time the tube is going down his mouth. Right now they are getting ready to bronchostomy. They have been pulling up a lot of junk from the breathing tube. We will keep you updated on todays events.

On another note - Please send some of your prayers for a child in the next room to us in the ICU as he was just put on an ECMO Machine, which is a portable heart lung machine.

  4. We experienced the same setback with Elijah's surgery. It was tough to see him back on the vent, but we also knew it was what was necessary to get him better. Colin is such a strong guy. When he comes off it again, he'll be feeling much better.

Hang in there! We'll say some extra prayers for Colin and his parents tonight. Take care.

  5. We were put back on the vent too (and stayed there for 2 weeks!) YIKES! But...they were pulling gunk out too..so, their little bodies just need more time to heal. Be strong for little Colin...and put his favorite tv shows on 24/7 for him! (that's what we did for Isaac...drove our nurses crazy!) He looks like he's ready to pull that g-tube out. That's so sweet that they know exactly where that tube is at ALL times!
We're praying for dry, puffy lungs for Mr. Colin and for peace and reassurance for his parents!
    Take care!

  7. Mel & Tim, The blog is blocked at work so this is the first the I have since it. It is a tribute to all three of you the support that has been rallied for Colin. Keep the faith that soon he will be in your arms and you can look back with pride on the strength you possessed. We love you and pray every night for you all.

  10. I forgot to tell you something.
On our last hospital stay, when they had to put the vent back in, Isaac wasn't totally sedated. He was more awake (they were trying to wein him off the morphine so that he could breathe on his own). Well, I don't know if Colin likes his pacifier...but, Isaac LOVES his! They let him suck on it while the vent was in his mouth. So, if Colin likes his, and he's more awake now...see if they'll let you give it to him. (It just helped to settle Isaac).
Really...I hope as I'm typing...that you're already off the vent!
    Take care!
