Surgery is finally done....
Colin finally got out of surgery around 7:30 pm. It was another 6 hour procedure. Dr. Bacha had to go into both the front and side incisions again to get out the clot and gather the collaterals. He did end up shunting those collaterals to Colin's aorta. Although this doesn't help lower the right ventricle pressure, it will help the collaterals grow that are off in the lung. Then in a year Colin will have another surgery to hook them up his heart directly, as they tried to do 2 weeks ago. The shunted the collaterals because the believed that they would clot again because they are so small. Colin is looking very pale right now and bleeding a lot because he is on a lot of blood thinners so he doesn't clot. He will be getting a blood transfusion soon. We will update more tomorrow on the progress.

How are YOU TWO holding up?

your precious little guy - i can't wait until he's out of there! everyday we'll be checking in and wishing and praying for good news...and hopefully Colin will recover quickly. sometimes it sure doesn't seem fair that these babies have to go through all this but i'm convinced that they are God's special children and have great things to teach us and the people they are going to meet throughout their lives. be strong! extra heart hugs tonight....
ReplyDeleteIt was so hard to leave last night after the surgery. Grandpa and I will be back Saturday even in the snow and I will be there for you all for the next week or so. Love you all and give Colin kisses and hugs today from Nanna and Grandpa. Lots of prayers for you Colin. You are the "comeback kid".
ReplyDeleteThat's our boy! Now you need to focus on healing from this surgery so that you can go home, grow those collaterals, and start having some fun. Plus, for some reason I have a feeling that you have brought Syracuse's lake effect snow with you to New England. That's my explanation for the record setting snow totals in New Hampshire! ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the surgery is over, now he can start to heal. It breaks my heart seeing him this way, but this is just a step in the right direction. I pray that his recovery is quick and he will start smiling again soon!
